is focused on The Hobbit!
Write a short but
epic tale —
in any style —
and you will be
entered into a drawing
to win tickets to the
December 14
midnight release of
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey!

Contest submissions will be accepted
September 21 through December 1.
Please, e-mail your short fiction to events@alamosabooks.com
with the subject line "Short Fiction Contest"
or drop a paper copy off at our store
before 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 1.
Include your name, age group and a phone number.
We will be awarding first prizes in three age groups.
- Middle School, Grades 6-8
- High School, Grades 9-12
- Young Adult, College
The theme of this contest is
There and Back Again.
Tie your story to this theme in any way!
The maximum length is
4000 words or 10 pages.
There are no other restrictions on form,
so you can write in prose, drama, verse, or any combination.
All entrants are invited to read their submissions at an Awards Reception
at Alamosa Books on December 12th at 6pm.
