Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her more time on Earth, Hazel has never been anything but terminal — her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.
— from Amazon

Staying on the right side of the line between maudlin and heart-breaking realism is no mean feat, but Green does so in the authentic voice of a terminally ill cancer kid. Hazel has accepted that she will die; she has not entirely accepted how her death will affect those she leaves behind. The fear that she will destroy those she loves leads to an obsession about a novel that is maddeningly and intentionally not finished by its reclusive, one-hit wonder author. She wants to know what happens to the people left behind in the novel and goes to great lengths to find out. What she finds out is a lesson that is timeless. When facing ultimates, it is better to have loved and lost than never loved at all. The Fault in Our Stars is my vote for the 2012 Printz (in case any judges are reading this).
— from Elizabeth Anker

In which John Green addresses a bit of confusion regarding signed (and not) books.

Alamosa Books is hosting a tour stop on the Tour de Nerdfigting. Ergo John and Hank Green will be here to sign your book on January 24th at the KiMo. The lucky bookstores on the Tour did not receive signed books to cover pre-orders because, well, the Greens will sign your book at the event.

Here is what John has to say on the subject posted on his tumblr on Sunday (1.15.12). Please, see item number 4.

As to printings and so forth, Alamosa Books ordered sufficient books at the outset so that ALL copies of TFIOS sold for the event will be first printing, first editions. For those who are interested in collectability. Of course, we believe that this book is worthy of a place on your bookshelf and in your heart no matter what the edition and signature.
